I joined Twitter on August 31st, 2022 being a marketer my motivation was to utilize its existence.
Growthwise it’s been a rollercoaster ride, leading to engagements going up & down. Initially, I garnered 500 followers in 11 days (without going viral)
The best part— I met some amazing content creators, marketers & people out there.
Those of you who already use Twitter might be aware of - how one-liners win the algorithm especially when it’s something funny or humorous but being a marketer I just can’t risk putting content that my audience might not be interested in.
So, I researched, learned some strategies & did A/B testing, few worked & few didn’t.
In this article I am sharing, what all worked for me, that you can steal & implement to get better results for yourself.

Moving ahead, let’s look at my Twitter analytics ( This is my first month on Twitter, exact 28 days )
Tweets — Numbers of Tweets I wrote within the first 28 days.
Tweet Impressions — Times a user is served a Tweet in timeline or search results.
Profile visits — The number of visits to my Twitter profile in the first 28 days.
Mentions — Number of times my name has been mentioned in somebody’s Tweet.
Followers — Number of people who were following me ( till that date )
Getting your first 500 followers on Twitter doesn’t have to be hard.
It isn’t that easy tho, but it’s 100% doable.
You can start today by following these steps:
1. Identify your content pillars.
Mine are— Content + Marketing + Community = Growth.
I mostly talk about growth strategies
My concept for growth is :
1. Content = creating / writing + sharing content in my niche.
2. Marketing = Marketing everything in business + I share my everyday learnings in business, marketing & entrepreneurship.
3. Community = Building community of like minded individuals (Also, I share how to’s) + supporting marketers to build & grow through community building.
Similarly, you can identify content pillars for yourself to create content & share with your audience.
2. Optimize your profile
1. Setup your profile Picture — This is your recognition factor.
Invest in a professional headshot.
If you don’t have one, you can use this tool to create an eye-catching profile pic for free.
Pro tip — If you do not want to show your face use a unique avatar that still fits your niche.
2. Craft a high-converting Bio — Because your first impression matters.
what you’re sharing + what’s in it for them + social proof + what are you building/working on
Learn the art of brevity and make it crisp & concise. (under 160 characters)
3. Setup your Banner
Your Banner should supplement your profile picture.
Utilize this space to your best & let your audience understand what you do + how you can help them when they follow you on Twitter.
To make one for free — use Canva & search “Twitter header”
Pro-tip — you can optimize your profile with birdy to test multiple photo, bio & banner combinations:
Fill in both versions A & B of your profile
Identify which version converts best
Use the highest converting profile
4. Unique handle
Your username/handle, which appears after the ‘@’ sign matters & it should be unique, mine on Twitter is — Shruti Mishra, if your handle is related to your niche it will help you build authority & presence among your audience.
5. Engage like a pro
Engage like a pro — while Starting out, you won’t have an audience. Borrow your dream audience for free.
Follow these steps -
Find a creator with your dream audience
Follow them & activate their post notifications
Be the first to add a value comment
6. Write killer content
To get ideas use:
Medium (Read articles related to your content)
Podcasts (Listen to experts on your topics)
YouTube (Follow channels in your niche)
What type of content to Tweet?
Listicle ( Hacks, Books, Tools, Podcasts)
Lessons (Teach your audience how to do 1 thing)
Inspirational (Inspire people to take action)
How to write consistently?
You MUST schedule your Tweets in advance
Use a scheduling tool that works for you my choice is hypefury.
Growing on Twitter has been the best thing for me so far!

UPDATE
I am updating the December 2022 stats especially when I did not have much activity due to the holidays.
Getting 140k profile visits + 356k impressions with just “897” tweets is the best thing here, (which showcases the content is good & relevant) we can easily get 1M+ impressions but tweeting all day long to get there is not at all sustainable, and let me tell you, I spend only 30mins — 45mins of my day on Twitter, through sustainable content making strategies.
Lastly, I would say consistency is not only attractive, it is everything that attracts growth. After optimizing your profile you need to stay consistently active to gain followers, engagements & clients from this platform.
